The new Chairperson of the Iran-Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Iranian Parliament, Mr. Masoud Pezeshkian, received today Ambassador Dragan Todorović, who congratulated him on his appointment, wishing him success in his work.
The talks referred to the parliamentary cooperation between Serbia and Iran, but also to the overall relations between the two friendly countries. It was emphasized that there is a continuity of the parliamentary consultations, both at the level of the presidents of some committees, the chairpersons of friendship groups, and at the level of the heads of the two highest legislative bodies. The last one and very important was the visit of the Iranian delegation that participated in the Conference of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Belgrade. The delegation was headed by the previous President of the Parliament, Mr. Ali Larijani, who was also received by the President of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Aleksandar Vučić. Ambassador emphasized that the President of Serbia then received only a few heads of parliaments of the countries that participated in the IPU, which is the best indicator of the friendly position towards Iran.
Mr. Masoud Pezehskian expressed readiness for continuation not only parliamentary, but also all other forms of bilateral cooperation. He pointed out that the representatives of the parliaments should also help development of the cultural, educational, health, tourist, and above all economic and trade ties. He emphasized that in recent years, the overall progress in bilateral relations between Serbia and Iran has been evident, and that we should continue in that direction.
