Ambassador Dragan Todorovic participated in Video conference on sport cooperation between Serbia and Iran that was held at the Ministry of Sport and Youth of Iran on Monday. The organizers were the Ministry of Sport and Youth of Iran and the Sport Academy from Belgrade. After the national anthems, the conference was opened by Assistant Minister of Education and Technological Development Bojan Tubic and Assistant Minister of Sport and Youth of Iran Ali Nezad. In Belgrade were also present Leon Lukman, founder of the Sport Academy, Siniša Jasnić, President of the Sport Academy`s Council, Zoran Gajić, President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, Ivan Ćurković, Honorary President of Partizan and member of the Sport Academy, Dejan Burčul, President of the Taekwondo Federation of Serbia, Viktor Jelinić , President of the Waterpolo Federation of Serbia, as well as Iranian Ambassador to Belgrade Rashid Hassanpur. In Tehran, in addition to the mentioned Assistent Minister, were present Ferzad Tahmasbi, Director General for International Relations of the Ministry of Sport and Youth, as well as presidents of the Taekwondo Federation, the Volleyball Federation, the Swimming and Water Polo Federationof Iran and Ambassador Dragan Todorovic.
Sport and educational cooperation between the two countries was discussed. It was stated that good political relations between Serbia and Iran have contributed to good sport cooperation, but also that sport ties that have existed for a long time and have a rich tradition are a significant contribution to the overall Serbian-Iranian relations. Serbia could train the Iranian side in several sports in which Serbia is successful - handball, tennis, athletics, waterpolo, but also in organizing courses in these and other sports. There is a willingness to exchange coaches, and from the Iranian side coud be provide adequate assistance in sports in which Iran is at the top, such as taekwondo, karate, wrestling, etc. The great contribution of Serbian volleyball experts was emphasized, which led to the fact that Iran is today at the very top of the world in this sport. In addition, it was agreed that the two sides would invite each other to seminars and all other events related to sports, as well as to strengthen mutual support in international sport organizations and committees. Some of sports where our help for female competitors would be especially important, such as volleyball, were pointed out, and satisfaction was expressed that our waterpolo coach Aleksandar Ciric improved the level of Iranian waterpolo. At the end, both ambassadors also spoke. It was pointed out that there is a ready document on the cooperation between the two ministries, as well as the one on the cooperation of basketball federations.
